We would like to begin by saying that the cultural life of Faculty of linguistics and cross-culture communications is really amazing. There are so many holidays and ways of entertainment in our university.
The day of the faculty is the event that can trace its roots back to the traditions of the faculty and our holidays of philological faculty of BFU. After the period of structural changes in the beginning 21 century “the day of faculty” became one of the most exiting part of students’ cultural life. It is celebrated in November every year.
We participate in sketches and theatrical performances, various dancing and music turns. Moreover, our students shoot amateur films devoted to the faculty. And all this activity is invariably connected with our everyday life.
It is necessary to mention that specificity of faculty is reflected in our performances. Often you can hear foreign language speech from the stage. And audience laughs not only at traditions of compatriots, but also at habits of foreigners too.
To surprise of teachers and fellow students our artists show remarkable performances and discover talent both in dancing and singing.
Celebration of such holydays as Saint Valentine's Day, Lecturer’s Day, Shakespeare's birthday, Christmas became a good tradition of our faculty. Romantic festival of St Valentine's Day is celebrated on the 14-th of February by our faculty. We usually organize wonderful dance parties and have fun with all students of our faculty. Red hearts and cupids decorate lecture-rooms. The most creative and talented students prepare fancy-dress performances. Therefore we enjoy our life together with our lecturers.
We celebrate Lecturer’s Day in March. We organize functions to entertainment our lecturers. We arrange plays based on the theme, deliver song or dance performances.
On the 12-th of April our faculty celebrates Shakespeare's birthday. The students play scenes from his poems in English. Participants wear special clothes and make hairstyles. They make everyone feel the atmosphere of those time.
Every year on the 25-th of December our faculty celebrates Christmas. The senior students make all preparations and others come to enjoy their performance. It is a very bright and funny show because all of the participants wear costumes and make colourful make-up. There are a lot of songs, music, dances and gifts on this event. Generally we take an active part in the cultural life of our faculty to make educational years the most unforgettable. So it goes…
